What is the Login for?
The login box at the top allows users to request an account on the CHRONOS Portal that provides extra capacity in certain cases. Please note that all core services (searches, tools, etc) are available to anonymous users as well, an account is not required.

You can find more information about the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS) timescales at http://www.stratigraphy.org. Some popular downloads are:

CHRONOS News

CHRONOS has been moved to a new server at Ocean Leadership. This server will improve performance and reliability. Additionally work is starting to integrate data from CHRONOS with scientific ocean drilling data from the Integrate Ocean Drilling Program through the Linked Open Data efforts at http://data.oceandrilling.org/discovery.

Additional info on those efforts is also at the main http://data.oceandrilling.org site.
