3rd Party Applications
CHRONOS is not directly involved in the support of the following application development but is either working with the developers or providing data and services that feed into the following applications.

  • Electronic Visualization Lab Core Wall:
    Electronic Visualization Lab Core Wall:
The Electronic Visualization Laboratory CoreWall effort (ref: http://www.evl.uic.edu/cavern/corewall/) is a tool that the CHRONOS group is looking to interconnect some of its tools and data into. The picture to the right is the EVL CoreWall system configured by CHRONOS at out our Iowa State University facilities. We are working with EVL and other CoreWall collaborators to interconnect this tool into our web and data services.
  • GPlates
    GPlates
GPlates is a free and open plate-tectonics visualization package.   CHRONOS is working closely with the GPlates group to ensure that data collected from the CHRONOS searches and tools can be imported and visualized using this program.
  • GEOMAPAPP
    GeoMapApp
Is a data exploration and visualization tool that is being developed as part of the Marine Geoscience Data Management System.  CHRONOS has provided its ReST and web service end points to the author of GeoMapApp for integration.

  • CONOP9
    CONOP9
CHRONOS has started work on a web services based version of the CONOP9 graphic correlation program. This system is still very much in its early stages, but is completely usable in this early form.
  • Stratistics
    Stratistics
CHRONOS is working with author of Stratistics to bring its capactity to the net as a set of web services. Stratistics s a tool for statistical analysis of spatially explicit data sets and model output for description and for model-data comparisons. lt is intended for the analysis of data sets commonly used in geology, such as gamma ray logs and lithologic sequences, as well as 2-D data such as maps. Stratistics incorporates a far wider range of spatial analysis methods drawn from multiple disciplines, than are currently available in other packages. These include incorporation of techniques from spatial and landscape ecology, fractal analysis, and mathematical geology. Its use should substantially reduce the risk associated with the use of predictive models

  • Google Earth
    Google Earth
Google Earth is the popular 3D earth visualization package from Google.  Google has made the file format (KML) for Google Earth public and CHRONOS has made several of its search results available in KML for visualization in this package for those interested.  Simply conduct your search in the "by keyword" section or look at the "by location"  for details.   Both these are located in the "Searches" tab of the portal.
  • Kepler
    Kepler
Kepler is an environment of scientific workflows.  CHRONOS uses Kepler to test service and ReST workflows and provide some basic workflows for people to download.  More of these workflows will be released as they are created.
